As Member of Parliament for Cardigan, it gives me great pleasure to offer my congratulations on the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the landing of the Selkirk Settlers in Belfast, Prince Edward Island. Come and journey back in history with the individuals and groups who have worked hard to depict the actual setting of the 1800�s. As well, hear the many stories of both the good times and the difficult experiences of our forefathers who persevered on this land so that we could enjoy the lifestyle we have today.

  I would especially like to invite everyone to experience the Highland games and the exciting list of events scheduled over the weekend of August 7th to the 10th. This wonderful weekend of activities, for young and old alike, demonstrates the tenacity of this group of Scottish highlanders who traveled so far from the security of their homes to a new land. Here they would forge a living out of these surroundings.

  Please come to Belfast and enjoy the rich history of a vibrant community celebrating its past. It is celebrations such as this that keep us in touch with our ancestors.
