The Last Will and Testament of Donald Inglis Jr. (-1873, Lot 14)

"Know all men by those present that I, Donald Inglis, of Lot 14, Prince County, being now in delicate health but of sane and disproving mind, and bearing in mind that the frail tenure of human life do now of my own good will make this my last will and testament.

In the first place I will and bequeath my soul to almighty God its author trusting to his mercy through the merits of a crucified Redeemer. My body I commend to the grave with a decent interment my just debts to be all paid from whatever property I may be possessed with at my decease to my beloved son Hilary Inglis.

I will and bequeath the remainder of said property of whatsoever nature whether real or personal including the freehold interest of 100 acres of land be the same a little more or less situated on Lot 14 Prince County being the farmstead that has been in my occupation for a number of years past with all buildings, fences pertinences and privileges belong and likewise to my said son Hilary Inglis.

I will and bequeath the crop stock including horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, farming implements and everything belonging to or any way connected with said freehold including house-hold furniture, bedding, body clothes and all property of whatsoever nature or description of which I may die possessed. Savings and exception of my beloved daughter Levina.

I will and bequeath one cow or young heifer. She having already received as her portion one cow and four sheep. And further more, it is my well wish and desire that my respected neighbor for whom I entertain a high esteem, John McArthur, do act as executer in the fulfillment of this my last will and testament.

Dated at Lot 14, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, July 20, 1868. Registered April 8, 1873

NOTE: Donald Jr. had five children by his first marriage to Jennie Campbell: Flora Jane, Donald III, Thomas, Artemas and Hilary. Hilary inherited the 100 acres but by 1880 he had conveyed it to others. The above named Levina, was from Donald Jr.'s second marriage to Rachel McKendrick.
