Last will and testament of John McDonald late of Grand River farmer deceased 23

The within written will being presented for probate by Archibald MacDonald one of the executors therein named Donald McDonald made oath that he saw John McDonald the Subscriber to this instrument sign the same and also heard him publish and declare it to be his last Will and Testament and that when he so did he was of sound disposing mind and memory according to this Deponents best discerning and that he set to his name in the said Testators presence and that Donald McDonald Senr and John McKinnon now absent subscribed their names as witnesses at the same time. In the name of God Amen. I John McDonald of Lot 16 Prince Edward Island being in a weak state of Body, yet through the mercy and goodness of God, of a sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute This my last Will and Testament, and Desire it to be received by all as such~

Infirmis I most Humbly Bequeath my soul to God my maker beseeching his most gracious acceptance of it Thro the all sufficient merits of my most compassionate Redeemer Jesus Christ who gave Himself to be an Atonement for my sins (a Infirimis ?) I give my Body to the Earth from whence it was taken in full Apurance of its Resurrection on The Last day, as for my Burial I desire it may be Decent without pomp or (state?) at the discretion of my dear wife and my Executors hereafter named who I doubt not will manage it with all Requisite Prudence ~ As to my worldly Estate I will, and Positively Order that all my Debts be Paid – In turn I give to my dear and loving Wife for the Farm and House in which I now live until my son Donald is of age when the Half of said Farm Descends to him Vz 100 Acres and the other half vz 100 acres and the house to my dear wife for Term of life and then the whole Farm to descend to my son Donald. I give to my son Alex Two Ton of Hay yearly Provided he shall be Kind and friendly to my wife and Son Donald and lend an assisting hand Particularly at making the Hay until such a time as my said son Donald is able to look after things for Himself and likewise a cow now grazing with his own Cattle ~ I give to my grandson John McDonald the foal that my mare is likely to have Whenever ~ I give three pounds toward the finishing or repairing the Chapel at Grand River ------- I also give to my dear wife whatever stock or movable Chattels remaining after my Debts are Paid as already said, and if her circumstances and the stock multiplying or increasing will allow, I give a Cow Kind to each of my three daughters yet Unmarried viz Ann, Sarah, and Elizabeth as likewise three head of sheep, let it also be remembered that when my son Donald comes to legal age his mother shall give him One Third of the cattle remaining on the farm and they shall Pay the Rent Equally between Them ~ And lastly I give to my son Angus either a pair of Oxen or a Horse now in his Own Possession, and I ordain, appoint and Constitute my son Archibald McDonald and my Brother Donald McDonald Executors of this my last will and Testament and Trustees for my wife and Children in Witness where I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 26th day of April in the year of Our Lord 1826
