The Descendants of Lawrence O'Farrell and Nancy Ann McIntyre

First Generation

1. Lawrence O'Farrell was born in Longford County, Ireland. He died on 12 Mar 1875 in Lot 16, Prince Edward Island, Canada and was buried in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada.

Lawrence O'Farrell immigrated to Prince Edward Island in 1823. On July 3, 1826 he signed a road petition with a group of men from Lot 14 (Grand River). Two of these men were John and Donald McIntyre, believed to be brothers of Nancy McIntyre. It is believed that he first lived in the Grand River (Lot 14) area where he met his wife Nancy. No marriage record has yet been found for Lawrence and Nancy They later moved to Lot 16, took up farming and raised horses, cattle and sheep.

In addition to farming he operated a country tavern. The Royal Gazette of July 30, 1839 records that on 5 July, 1839 he was convicted before the local magistrate for retailing Spirituous Liquor without a license (Bootlegging) and fined the sum of five pounds. A subsequent entry in the Royal Gazette of June 16, 1840 noted that the Prince County Grand Jury in their June term annulled and made void the License granted to him for retailing Liquor. Lawrence O'Farrell has a will registered with the Province of Prince Edward Island Probate Court Register of Wills (Liber 8, page 851) dated January 18, 1875. Lawrence O'Farrell died on March 2, 1875 at age 72.

 

Lawrence married Nancy Ann McIntyre, daughter of Laughlin McIntyre and Widow McIntyre. Nancy was born in Lot 14, Prince Edward Island, Canada. She died on 13 Sep 1874 in Lot 16, Prince Edward Island, Canada and was buried in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada.

They had the following children:

6 F v. Margaret O'Farrell was born on 1 Aug 1838 and was christened on 30 Sep 1838 in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada. She died on 23 Oct 1911.

Margaret married John Lecky on 5 Aug 1883.

7 M vi. Patrick O'Farrell was born on 20 Mar 1842 and was christened on 1 May 1842 in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada.

+ 8 M vii. John O'Farrell was born on 12 Feb 1844 and died on 24 Apr 1911.

2. Ann O'Farrell (Lawrence) was born in 1827.

Ann married Thomas Warren.

3. Catherine O'Farrell (Lawrence) was born on 1 May 1830 and was christened on 18 Jul 1830 in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada. She died on 20 May 1862 and was buried in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada.

Catherine married Joseph McNeill, son of John McNeill and Catherine Gillis. Joseph was born on 20 Dec 1829 in Grand River, P.E.I., Canada and was christened on 11 Mar 1830 in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada.

They had the following children:

5. James O'Farrell (Lawrence) was born on 4 Oct 1835 and was christened on 10 Mar 1836 in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada. He died in 1913 and was buried in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada.

James married Mary Ann Lecky, daughter of John Lecky and Johanna Power, on 26 Nov 1867. Mary was born on 7 Jan 1844. She died in 1917.

Anastasia married Patrick Butler.

19 M ii. Ambrose O'Farrell was born on 14 Mar 1870 and was christened on 28 Mar 1870 in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada. He died on 30 Sep 1953.

Ambrose married Sophia Catherine Woods, daughter of Thomas Woods and Mary Anne Steele, on 16 Jul 1901. Sophia was born on 17 Sep 1874 and was christened on 30 Sep 1874. She died on 14 May 1973 and was buried in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada.

20 F iii. Cecelia A. O'Farrell was born on 4 Feb 1872. She died on 17 Jan 1902.

21 F iv. Catherine (Minnie) O'Farrell was born on 24 Sep 1873. She died on 21 Dec 1900 and was buried on 23 Dec 1900 in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada.

25 M viii. John Loman O'Farrell was born on 4 Dec 1882 and was christened on 16 Dec 1882. He died in 1957 and was buried in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Canada.

John married Mary Jane Swollow on 17 Nov 1923.

26 F ix. Mary Ann O'Farrell was born on 31 Aug 1885 and was christened on 30 Sep 1885 in St John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I., Canada.

Mary married James Edward Farrell, son of Terrance Farrell and Ann Gauin, on 22 Jul 1913. James was born on 15 May 1877 in Tignish, P.E.I., Canada and was christened on 3 Jul 1877.

8. John O'Farrell (Lawrence) was born on 12 Feb 1844 and was christened on 3 Mar 1844 in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada. He died on 24 Apr 1911 and was buried in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Miscouche, P.E.I. Canada.

John married Catherine Lecky, daughter of John Lecky and Johanna Power, on 23 Nov 1880. Catherine was born on 19 Feb 1855. She died on 4 Oct 1937.

Isodore married Mary Sarah Woods, daughter of Thomas Woods and Mary Anne Steele, on 24 Nov 1914. Mary was born on 1 Oct 1882 and was christened on 8 Oct 1882.

Lillian married Emmanuel Steele, son of James Douglas Steele and Agnes Woods, on 20 Sep 1922. Emmanuel was born on 17 May 1889. He died on 9 Jan 1965.

9. Mary Ellen O'Farrell (Lawrence) was born in 1853.

Mary married John James Simmons on 18 Apr 1882 in Hillsborough, N.B., Canada. John was born in 1854. He died in 1927.
