McPhee's of Burnt Point

The information on this family is an ongoing project and some of the information is yet unproven. This report has corrections and additions from the 2000 file previous posted on the Island Register. It is meant as a research tool only.

First Generation

1. ¹ MCPHEE (#541) was born in Isle of Skye, Scotland.

The given name of Angus and Hugh's father is not known.

In letters written in 1943 from descendants of Hugh McPhee's about the history of the McPhee family, it states that "Hugh and Angus McPhee, their sister and parents all emigrated from Scotland. Hugh and Angus left the ship in PEI and their parents and sister continued on to Quebec. This unnamed sister married a English Army Officer in Quebec by the name of Mott. Mrs. Mott "sent an Indian down once each year to see how the folks in PEI were doing."

Upon their arrival in PEI, Hugh and Angus lived for about one year in Mt. Stewart before walking to Georgetown Royalty and settling at what is now known as McPhee Beach".

MCPHEE had the following children:

i. FEMALE² (#2547) was born in Isle of Skye, Scotland. She married MOTT . ( MOTT is #2548.) In letters written in 1943 from descendants of Hugh McPhee's about the history of the McPhee family, it states that Hugh and Angus McPhee, their sister and parents all emigrated from Scotland.

Hugh and Angus left the ship in PEI and their parents and sister continued on to Quebec. This unnamed sister married a English Army Officer in Quebec by the name of Mott. Mrs. Mott "sent an Indian to down once each year to see how the folks in PEI were doing."

In the book "The Mythology, Traditions and History of the MacDubhubhsith - MacDuffie Clan (McAfie, McDuffie, MacFie, MacPhee, DUffy etc.) Some Pioneers of our Clan in PEI 1767-1881", Volume VIII by Earle Douglas MacPhee on page 111 under excerpts from old newspapers supplied by Mrs. Nina G. Ross #12. Christine McPhee married John Motz, Sgt. in N.S. Fencibles, January 9, 1805.

It is NOT known if this is the missing McPhee daughter BUT worth noting for further research.

Second Generation

2. HUGH² MCPHEE (¹) (#542) was born in Isle of Skye, Scotland c 1767. Hugh died 1825 at 58 years of age.

He married CATHERINE WALKER. (Catherine WALKER is #547.) Catherine was born in South Uist, Scotland c1781. Catherine was the daughter of WALKER . Catherine died 20 Oct 1853 in Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI, at 72 years of age (Cemetery Record). Her body was interred in St. James Cemetery, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI (Cemetery Record). On 18 November 1828, Catherine applied for a Land Petition for 20 acres in Georgetown Royalty. She stated she was a widow, a native of Scotland, 50 years of age, and had eight children.

Colin MacDonald Land Petition 1 Sept 1827

"A letter praying Government consideration for three individuals settled in the Georgetown Royalty. The husband's of widows McKinnon and McPhee drowned several years ago leaving the women to raise young families on the land "the one having in possession 20 years and the other 15 years", the third John McMillam was sickly, infirm and unable to go to Charlottetown which I occupied in the Royalty of Georgetown for 17 years."

Hugh is said to have arrived on the ship Polly in 1803 with his brother Angus. In 1825 Hugh drowned crossing the Cardigan River or shore of Georgetown Harbor.

From the book Remembering 1829-1979 Diocese of Charlottetown

"There is an interesting legend told in King's County, which explains how the early priests of Georgetown came to hold stations in the house of one Hugh McPhee of Burnt Point, who is registered as a Presbyterian emigrant from Skye. Many years ago this Hugh McPhee being detained on business in the settlement of old Launching was obliged to pass the night there, at the residence of Mr. Angus Walker. Being a man of respectable appearance, to him was allotted the bedroom usually occupied by Father MacEachern, when he held a station at Launching. Scarcely had Mr. McPhee closed his eyes, when he heard a voice saying: "Eirich o'n leabidh, a Chrisdaidh beannachd, tha e anmoch". "Rise from the bed of the blessed Christian!"

He was much startled, but, being very tired, tried to imagine himself dreaming. However, the second time and even the third time, the invisible voice hissed the same words into his ear. He arose, dressed and went home. As soon as the day dawned he drove to St. Andrew's, made his profession of faith and was received into the church by Bishop McEachern. His brother Angus became a Catholic shortly after. From that time, Bishop MacEachern, Father MacDonald, and Father Francis McDonald held stations at Hugh McPhee's house and it became habitual stopping place of the priests long before there was a presbytery in Georgetown."

3. ANGUS² MCPHEE (¹) (#537) was born in Isle of Skye, Scotland 1768. Angus died in PEI, Canada.

He married MARY MCLOUD. (Mary MCLOUD is #1216.) Mary was born in South Uist, Scotland. On 18 November 1828 Angus applied for a Land Petition for 22 acres in Georgetown Royalty. He stated he was born in Scotland, married and the father of nine children. His brother, Hugh's widow, Catherine ,and Roderick McPhee along with Roderick and Angus Macdonald also applied for land in the Royalty on this date.

Through land petitions, land records, maps, and oral history and assumptions eight of Angus' children have been identified.

Third Generation

4. CHRISTINA³ MCPHEE (Hugh², ¹) (#141) was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada c 1803. Christina died 13 August 1876 in Burnt Point, Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI, at 73 years of age (Vital Statistics from Island Newspaper).

She married RODERICK (BURNT POINT) MACDONALD in Prince Edward Island, Canada, c. 1823. (Roderick (Burnt Point) MACDONALD is #140.) Roderick was born in South Uist, Scotland c1792 (PEI Newspaper). Roderick was the son of John MACDONALD and Catherine MORRISON. Roderick died 17 Jan 1890 in Burnt Point, Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI, at 97 years of age (Daily Examiner, PEI). His body was interred 1890 in St. James Cemetery, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI (PEI Newspaper). DAILY EXAMINER January 24, 1890

At Burnt Point, Georgetown Royalty, on the 17th inst., after a painful illness, which he bore with Christian resignation, Roderick McDonald, aged 98 years. The parents of the deceased emigrated to this province from Uist, Scotland and landed at Bay Fortune when the deceased was ten years of age. He experienced many of the hardships incident to the life of a pioneer, and was the father of a family of twelve children, eleven of whom survive him, together with forty grand-children. His remains were followed to their last resting place by one of the largest funeral processions ever seen in Georgetown. - R.I.P.

DAILY EXAMINER FEBRUARY 17, 1890

Ninety-eight years ago, on the island of South Uist, Invernesshire, Scotland, was born the subject of this sketch, the late Roderick McDonald in the year 1792. He, with his Father, brothers and sisters, emigrated to this Island in the year 1802, when he was ten years old. He lived for a short time in Grand River, whence he removed to Burnt Point , Georgetown Royalty, where he took up land, faced the forest, and began the life of a pioneer, with which life in those days there were many hardships connected. Mr. McDonald was a prosperous farmer. Being of a industrious disposition, he accumulated considerable property and lived in comfortable circumstances. He was the father of twelve children, eleven of whom survive him; also forty-two grandchildren. Personally he was genial, hospitable and considerate; to the sick he was humane and generous. As his life covered almost a century, ninety-eight years - he remembered the time that King's County was one unbroken wilderness, and the ring of the woodman's axe was all that broke it's solitude. He also remembered the time when where it's capital, Georgetown, now stands, was a solid hardwood forest. Indeed he may be called one of the pioneers of Kings County. He was a man of robust constitution, and had a wonderful memory which he retained until the last hours. After three months suffering, which he bore with Christian resignation, he peacefully passed away, fortified by the rites of his church. Surrounded by his family and friends, he breathed his last on the morning of January 17th. As a token of esteem, his remains were followed to St. James cemetery by the largest concourse of people of all denominations seen in that locality for many years.

On 18 November 1828, Roderick applied for a Land Petition in Georgetown Royalty. He stated he was a native of Scotland, 29 years of age, married, and the father of two children.

On this same date Angus McPhee, Catherine McPhee and Roderick McPhee also applied for Land Petitions in Georgetown Royalty.

In Wilfred MacDonald's book on the Macdonald's he states that Roderick's second born son, Angus, farmed 100 acres in Greenvale, became disabled and Emauel took over the farm. NO documentation has been found on a son Angus. Roderick's son, Hugh, had 100 acres in Greenvale, 50 acres which were left to Hugh's daughter, Helena, 50 acres sold according to instruction in Hugh's will.

vii. MARY (BURNT POINT) (#408) was born in Burnt Point, Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI 10 March 1845 (MacDonald Book; and 1901 PEI Census). Mary died 5/7 December 1910 at 65 years of age (John Norton's Journal). Her body was interred in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery. She married JOHN MACMILLAN in St. James Church, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI, 7 Jul 1883. (John MACMILLAN is #409.) John was born in PEI, Canada 5 November 1840 (1901 PEI Census). John died 3 January 1932 at 91 years of age (John Norton's Journal). His body was interred in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery.

She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1881 Burnt Point, Georgetown Royalty. She resided in Annandale, Kings County, PEI (1901 PEI Census).

24 viii. ANDREW R. was born 30 Nov 1845

ix. ELLEN (#151) was born in Burnt Point, Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI c. 1847. Ellen died 9 Mar 1920 in San Francisco, California, at 72 years of age (Obit, San Francisco Chronicle). Her body was interred 1920 in Macdonald Plot, Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, CA (Macdonald Family Plot). Ellen immigrated in 1883 to San Francisco, CA. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1900,1910 San Francisco.

5. PENELOPE³ MCPHEE (Hugh², ¹) (#548) was born in Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI 9 Oct 1809.

She married ANGUS (ANGUS) MACDONALD in St. Michael's Church, Kings Co., PEI, 29 September 1835 (Marriage Record). (Angus (Angus) MACDONALD is #549.) Angus was the son of Angus (Montreal Road) MACDONALD . Angus died c 1867 in Launching, Kings County, PEI. In the Name of God Amen This seventeenth day of May one thousand eight hundred and sixty seven I Angus McDonald Farmer of township No 55 in Kings County Prince Edward Island, do make this my last will and testament and I dispose of my property

the following manner viz

1st I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Penelope McDonald all that parcel of ground in the field next the Shore adjoining my Brother Donald's farm during her natural life and after her death the said property shall belong to my son John Manuel McDonald

2nd I give to the said John Manuel McDonald all the remainder of my farm being adjoining my Brother Donald's farm together with the buildings on the premises and farming implements reserving for my wife and daughters one half of my house while they live on the place.

3rd I also give to my son Hugh McDonald one hundred and fifty acres of land in township No 53 adjoining land belonged to John McDonald

4th I also give to my son Michael one cow and six head of ewes

5th I also give to my Dear Daughters Mary and Ellen the sum of five pounds each to be paid out of my stock or if they prefer one cow and two ewes for each

6th I also give to my parish priest Rev F.J. McDonald one cow for the benefit of my soul.

I appoint the following gentlemen my Executors to Execute this my last will and testament Mr. Michael Morrison and my Brother Donald McDonald

She was baptized 9 November 1809 ("Roman Catholic Book").

Penelope MCPHEE and Angus (Angus) MACDONALD had the following children:

i. MARY⁴ (#554) was born in Kings County, PEI, Canada 18 August 1836. She was baptized in St. Michael's, Grand River, Kings County, PEI, 18 September 1836 (McPhee Book). Listed in the will of Angus in 1867 and living at the family homestead.

iii. JOHN EMANUEL (#1301) was born 12 January 1842. He resided in 1890 in St. George's Parish. He resided in 1881, 1891, 1901 Lot 55. He was baptized in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 13 January 1842 (Baptism Record).

iv. HUGH (#1302) was born 20 June 1846. He was baptized in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 29 June 1846 (Baptism Record). Hugh was listed is his father Angus' will and inherited 150 acres on Lot 53.

v. ELLEN (#1303) was born 26 November 1848. Ellen died 13 December 1914 in Roxbury, Massachusetts, at 66 years of age. Her body was interred in St. George's Cemetery, Kings County, PEI. She resided in 1881, 1891, 1901 Lot 55. She was baptized in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 2 December 1848 (Baptismal Record).

6. JOHN³ MCPHEE (Hugh², ¹) (#550) was born in Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI 1810. John died 21 Dec 1881 or 1884 in Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI, at 71 years of age. His body was interred in St. James Cemetery, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI (Cemetery Record).

He married ISABELLA MACDONALD. (Isabella MACDONALD is #551.) Isabella was born in PEI 9 Oct 1823. Isabella was the daughter of Alexander(Alex Pond) MACDONALD and Isabella WALKER. Isabella died 10 February 1908 in Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI, at 84 years of age (Vital Statistics from Island Newspaper). Her body was interred in St. James Cemetery, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI (Cemetery Record). According to a family letter Isabella is a cousin to Peter's wife Ann/Nancy MacDonald from Little Pond, Lot 56.

He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1881 Georgetown Royalty.

7. PETER³ MCPHEE (Hugh², ¹) (#552) was born in Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI 1813. Peter died 10 Jun 1890 in Burnt Point, Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI, at 76 years of age (Maple Leaf Magazine; and Vital Statistics from Island Newspaper). His body was interred in St. James Cemetery, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI.

He married ANN MACDONALD (Nancy) in St. Michael's Church, Kings Co., PEI, 9 February 1841 (Marriage Record). (Ann MACDONALD(Nancy) is #2436.) Ann was born in Little River 1815. Ann was the daughter of James(Pond) MACDONALD and Catherine MACDONALD(Tracadie). Ann died 23 November 1876 in Burnt Point, Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI, at 61 years of age. Her body was interred in St. James Cemetery, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI (Cemetery Record).

He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1881 Georgetown Royalty. He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1890 in St. James Parish. Copy of will in LMR's files.

Peter's will was written on 5 September 1885, a codicil added 11 May 1890, and proved 29 August 1890. The executors were Joseph R McDonald and Roderick R. Macdonald. All of Peter's surviving children are listed; Angus, Charles A, Mary, James, Catherine and Janus.

Peter MCPHEE and Ann MACDONALD(Nancy) had the following children:

i. FEMALE⁴ (#2576). Died at age 2 of croup.

vi. MARY A (#579) was born in Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI 1853. Mary died 17 Oct 1907 at 54 years of age. Her body was interred in St. James Cemetery, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1881 Georgetown Royalty. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1890 in St. James Parish.

viii. CATHERINE (#576) was born in Burnt Point, Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI 26 January 1856 (St. George's Baptismal Record). Catherine died 30 March 1939 in Burnt Point, Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI, at 83 years of age (Vital Statistics from Island Newspaper). Her body was interred in St. James Cemetery, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI. She married CHARLES MCADAM in St. James Church, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI, November 1892 (Church Record). (Charles MCADAM is #599.)

She was baptized in St. James Church, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI, 29 January 1856 (McPhee Book; and St. George's Baptismal Record). She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1881 Georgetown Royalty. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1890 in St. James Parish.

34 ix. H. JANUS was born 26 June 1859

8. ELEANOR HELENA³ MCPHEE (Hugh², ¹) (#1200) was born in Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI c 1815.

She married ISADORE MCCORMACK in St. Michael's Church, Kings Co., PEI, 10 January 1841 (Marriage Record). (Isadore MCCORMACK is #1201.) Isadore was born in PEI c 1816. Isadore was the son of Michael MCCORMACK and Margaret MCKINNON.

Eleanor Helena MCPHEE and Isadore MCCORMACK had the following children:

i. DONALD⁴ (#2002) was born c 1841. He was baptized in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 19 June 1841 (Baptismal Record).

35 ii. PATRICK was born 1848

9. ELIZABETH³ MCPHEE (Hugh², ¹) (#1194) was born in Burnt Point, Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI 1817. Elizabeth died 3 September 1900 at 83 years of age (Cemetery Record; and Vital Statistics from Island Newspaper). Her body was interred in St. George's Cemetery, Kings County, PEI (Cemetery Record).

She married LAUGHLIN MACDONALD in St. Michael's Church, Kings Co., PEI, 26 February 1843 (Marriage Record). (Laughlin MACDONALD is #1195.) Laughlin was born in Lot 55, Kings County, PEI 1810. Laughlin was the son of Alexander (Red Sandy) MACDONALD and Catherine MORRISON . Laughlin died 11 February 1901 at 91 years of age (Vital Statistics from Island Newspaper). His body was interred in St. George's Cemetery, Kings County, PEI. Laughlin came from Grove/Gros Pine. He heard that 300 acres was for sale in Narrows Creek and rowed up the river to look at it. Laughlin decided to buy it and went to Charlottetown by blazed trail to make the purchase. When he returned to Grove Pine, his brother James and Little Donald decided to move also. They decided to divide it by Laughlin having first choice. He took the middle farm, which turned out to be the poorest of the three, and his brothers took the farms on either side.

Laughlin's children, Eugenie, Stephen and Catherine lived in the Grey Stone House and did not marry.

Elizabeth MCPHEE and Laughlin MACDONALD had the following children:

ii. ELLEN (#2003) was born 13 January 1844. She was baptized in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 14 January 1844 (Baptismal Record).

iv. THOMAS (#1196) was born in Lot 55, Kings County, PEI 22 September 1851. Thomas died 15 October 1872 in Drowned at sea, at 21 years of age (Cemetery Record). He was baptized in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 10 January 1852 (Baptismal Record).

v. ALEXANDER (#1197) was born in Lot 55, Kings County, PEI 15 July 1853. Alexander died 23 April 1874 in Lot 55, Kings County, PEI, at 20 years of age (Cemetery Record). His body was interred in St. George's Cemetery, Kings County, PEI (Cemetery Record). He was baptized in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 19 September 1853 (Baptismal Record).

vi. JOHANNA (#1211) was born in Lot 55, Kings County, PEI c 1854. She married HUGH MACDONALD (Hugie Red John) in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 10 February 1891 (Marriage Record). (Hugh MACDONALD(Hugie Red John) is #1645.) Hugh is the son of John MACDONALD and Mary MACDONALD.

She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1881 Lot 55. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1890 in St. George's Parish.

vii. CATHERINE (#1215) was born in Lot 55, Kings County, PEI 23 October 1855. She was baptized in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 2 December 1855 (Baptismal Record). She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1890 in St. George's Parish. Kate lived in the States and worked for a wealthy family who paid for the cost of building the Grey Stone House.

viii. HUGH (#1213) was born in Lot 55, Kings County, PEI 2 September 1857. He was baptized in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 5 September 1857 (Baptismal Record). He resided in 1881, 1891, 1901 Georgetown. He resided in 1890 in St. James Parish. Cilistos age 14 (relationship not given ) is residing with Donald in the 1881 census. This is most likely Calistus (Hughy's son) who is NOT listed with his family in 1881.

Guardian, September 1913 Died at Charlottetown, September 25th, Mr. Donald McPhee, Georgetown, age 89. "Despite his advanced age he attended church daily, walking a considerable distance to do so". His wife predeceased him about two year ago. He leaves a brother in N.B. and two sisters, Mrs. Michael McDonald of St. George's and Miss Cecely, at home. The funeral was from the home of his niece Mrs. H. Allister Macdonald, Georgetown Royalty.

iii. RUDOLPHUS PETER (#3375) was born c1838. Rudolphus died 29 November 1899 in Georgetown, Kings County, PEI, at 61 years of age (Obit). His body was interred in St. George's Cemetery, Kings County, PEI (Cemetery Record). He resided in 1881 Lot 24, Rustico. He resided in 1891 Charlottetown. From the Book "Scottish Catholics in PEI"

A native of the Parish of St. George's. Attended the district school. Studied privately for a time under the direction of his pastor Rev. Francis J. Macdonald. Made his theological course in France. Ordained Priest, by the Bishop of Evreux, on June 29th, 1867. Had charge of St. Andrew's and St. Peter's for a time. Had charge of Rustico, till the year 1888, when ill-health forced him to retire. Spent some time in Colorado, whence he returned and took up his residence in Charlottetown, and later at Georgetown, where he died in the month of November 1900. His remains lie in the Cemetery in his native parish of St. George's.

He married CATHERINE MACDONALD. (Catherine MACDONALD is #540.) Catherine was born in Scotland 1805 (McPhee Book). Catherine died 27 Feb 1893 in Launching, Kings County, PEI, at 87 years of age. Her body was interred in St. George's Cemetery, Kings County, PEI (McPhee Book).

Alexander was the son of John MACDONALD and Catherine BEATON. Alexander died 3 November 1864 in Georgetown Royalty, Kings County, PEI, at 63 years of age. His body was interred in St. James Cemetery, Georgetown, Kings County, PEI. Alexander's will was written 25 May, proved September 1865 which contradicts his death date given in St. James Cemetery Records.

In his will he mentions sons, John James and Michael and daughters Susan and Catherine. Some additional research will need to be done.

He married CATHERINE CAMPBELL 23 April 1854 (Newspaper). (Catherine CAMPBELL is #2545.) Catherine is the daughter of Archibald CAMPBELL. Catherine was from Rollo Bay. Hugh bought Greenvale property in 1849 and sold it to brother John in 1854.

Hugh Macdonald of Burnt Point wrote his will on 1 October 1856. Fifty acres in Lot 46 was left to his daughter Helena and fifty acres to his wife, Catherine. Fifty of the acres was next to his brother, John MacDonald and the property of Donald Mooney. Helena's 50 acres is not to be sold without the permission of his two older brothers, and the property of Catherine is to be sold and 1/2 money given to Catherine, the remainer for expenses of funeral. Receipt of expenses to be given to his father, Roderick of Burnt Point. Executors were Peter McPhee of Burnt Point and Henry Griffin of G'town.

In the marriage records for St. Michael's/St. George's on 30 April 1854 there is a marriage record for Hugh Macdonald of Burnt Point and Catherine Campbell of Rollo Bay. Witnesses were John Macdonald and Mary Campbell.

He married ANNE MCPHEE in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 18 August 1878. (Anne MCPHEE is #1293.) Anne was born 15 August 1851. Anne was the daughter of Angus MCPHEE and Nancy MACDONALD . She married PATRICK CHRISTIAN in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 15 January 1872. Anne died 28 August 1918 at 67 years of age. Anne was previously married to Patrick Christian and had two children: Daniel Charles and Mary Anne.

Stephen and Mary lived in DeGross Marsh and later moved to the Seven Mile Road.

Mary came from the family in St. George's that lived in the "grey stone house" and was the daughter of Laughlin MacDonald. Laughlin's family lived about four houses up the road from where Stephen lived.

One came back rich, one came back poor and Alfred was never heard from again.

viii. CLEMENTINA (#1924) was born 5 August 1885. Clementina died 27 January 1963 at 77 years of age. She married PETER LANDRY . (Peter LANDRY is #3206.)

ix. MATHEW (#1925) was born 10 September 1887. Mathew died 24 September 1936 at 49 years of age. Mattie never married. He had been badly gassed in WWI and lived his final years with his brother, Jim, in Melrose.

Michael was the son of Angus (Angus) MACDONALD and Penelope MCPHEE. He married MARY MCPHEE in St. Columba Church, Kings County, PEI, 17 July 1871 (Extracts from St. Margaret's/Columba�s). Michael died 6 March 1903 at 64 years of age. His brother John and sister Ellen are living with Michael Angus in the 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses.

She moved to Boston where she married a Mr. Lewis and they had two sons. Mr. Lewis took his sons and divorced Mary Anne. She remarried a Mr. Meegan and they adopted a child.

ix. DANIEL CHARLES (#1977) was born 17 March 1874. He was baptized in St. George's/Michael's Church, Kings County, PEI, 22 March 1874. Daniel was living in the household of Peter Campbell in the 1881 census and in the household of Donald Steele of Lot 54 in the 1891 census. He later moved to Dorchester, Massachusetts.

Neil was the son of Archibald MORRISON and Christy Catherine MCCORMACK. Neil died 31 January 1946 in Launching, Kings County, PEI, at 81 years of age (Obit). His body was interred in St. George's Cemetery, Kings County, PEI (Cemetery Record). Neil Daniel Morrison, of Launching, was an Executor for the estate of John R. (Young John) Macdonald (his father-in-law). He lived in the home he was born in until his death. He was a carpenter and from 1916 - 1946 acted as Undertaker. Pall Bearers at his funeral were: Roderick Morrison, W.A. McKinnon, Angus D. Walker, Stephen McDonald, Louis Fitzpatrick and Alfred Walker. He had a sister, Mrs. Annie Campbell of Pictou, Nova Scotia.

Jimmy Stephen bought a 200 acre farm in Melrose from Loretta's father, John Francis McKinnon. Jimmy Stephen was a story teller of note and a prosperous farmer. Before his marriage, he worked in many occupations such as a teamster and lumberjack in the New England lumber camps. He worked on ranches out West mad as a fisherman on the Island. He received an award for bravery for his role in saving two people from a sailing vessel that had floundered in a storm. His grandson remembers him as one of the wisest persons he had ever met.
