She received a message from Jack McClure, another cousin from Idaho, just sent her word that Pat went to hospital with a severe headache on April 27th, suffered a major stroke on April 28th, had brain surgery but never recovered or woke up and she passed away on May 9th, 2001 It is with deep regret that we pass along the news of Pat's passing - she will be missed by all who had the priviledge of knowing her.

1. ANGUS1 MCLURE was born in Inverness-shire, Scotland, and died in Prince Edward Island, Canada. He married ANNABELLA MCKENZIE in Scotland.
Notes for ANGUS MCLURE: Angus McLure and Annabella McKenzie immigrated to Lot 33, Brackley Point, Prince Edward Island , Canada, circa 1793. Farming was the main livelihood of the settlers of Lot 33. According to the Census of PEI, Canada 1798, Angus( McLeur ) is the head of a household consisting of four males under the age of sixteen , two females under the age of sixteen and one male and one female between the ages of sixteen to sixty. There is some evidence that Angus was a shipbuilder in Scotland, and possibly on Prince Edward Island.( See notes for Jack A. McClure)

Notes for RODERICK MCLURE: Roderick McLure was a farmer. His farm was on the northwest corner of Lot 33, where Gregor's Hotel now sits. Roderick never married. He is buried at Brackley Point PEI, Canada. His gravestone reads: This marks the resting place of an honest man.

From the notes of Shane MacClure: Roderick's nephew Hugh ( Shane's great great grandfather) took the Gregor's and Shaws to court. trying to break the later will. The McLure's lost . For generations, the McLure's would pass the Shaw's Hotel and note quietly... that it should have been the McLure place.

Notes for ANGUS MCLURE JUNIOR: Angus Mclure Jr. is buried at Cavendish, PEI, Canada. There are three gravestones side by side Angus Margaret, and Job, Angus was also known as McLeur. He was appointed Fence viewer for Brackley Point
for the year 1839. Angus was Presbyterian. He left a will undated. The will was never proved. The original is in the Registry of Probate, Charlottetown, PEI, Canada. It reads:
In the name of God Amen, I Angus McLure of township 24, farmer do make this as and for my last will and testament.
In the first place, I bequeath to my eldest son John one third part of my real estate being that part bounded on the east by the lands of James Cannon and to the heirs of his body lawfully to be begotten.
Secondly, I bequeath to my second son, Roderick one third part of my said real estate adjoining that share bequeathed to my said son John, and to the heirs of his body lawfully to be begotten, and further I bequeath to my youngest son Hugh the remaining third of my said estate and to his heirs lawfully to be begotten with all the improvements and buildings that are situate thereon which said share shall be subject to the support and maintenance of my dear wife during the term of her natural life or as long as my said wife continues to reside with him and remains unmarried.
And further that the whole of my gear and personal estate shall remaining the sole possession of my said dear wife until each of my sons shall separately attain to the age of twenty-one years of age and that on each severally attaining said age he shall be entitled to enter into full possession of his share as above described. And my further will is that in case of any or either of my said sons dying without lawful issue them surviving the share or division herein before bequeathed shall become the property of my surviving son or sons in equal proportions and to their respective heirs lawfully issuing.
And I further will that the foregoing bequests shall be subject to the payment of the sum of fifteen pounds currency to be paid in horses, cattle or sheep to each of my daughters that shall attain the age of eighteen years or her being settled in life.
the above requests shall be clear of any deductions on account of ...that may be.. dispose of my just debts and funeral expenses which shall be paid out of the personal property I may die possessed of -and further I nominate,and appoint my friends Alexander McKenzie senior of Rustico Capes and David Simpson of Cavendish, Peter Gregor and Roderick McLure of Brackley Point executors to this my last will and testament.

John evidently had problems with his family and their strictness and left PEI. His father gave him three ships and excluded him from the clan He sailed the seas for several years before settling in Wisconsin It is reported that several trips and considerable time was spent in China. Supposedly a registrar or clerk accidently added the extra C to the name.
Donald (John) was a miner in Ridgeway, Iowa Co. Wisconsin from 1850- 1860 and Blue Mounds, Dane Co. Wisconson1870-1880.
Six of the children of Donald John McLure and Mary McKenzie died very young. Ranging in age from fourteen years to six months.
More About DONALD JOHN MCLURE: September 1895, John was baptised at St John's Angelican church. In later years he changed his name to Donald John. PEI records list him as Donald John when he got married

Notes for FARQUHAR MCLURE: Farquhar McLure and Jenny (Jane ) Simpson lived at North Rustico, PEI, Canada. He was a farmer. A certificate of British Registry for the ship "Margaret Simpson" was issued to Farquhar McLeor of Rustico, and David Simpson of New London. Farquhar and Jenny had ten children. The exact date of Farquhar's death is not known. It was probably before 1879, the date of his brother Rodericks will. Farquhar's children are listed in the Cavendish history.

According to my Dad, William J. McClure Jr. The white bed in Anne of Greene Gables cottage came from the old homestead, also the quilt that is on the bed. ( from Aunt Hazel)

8. HUGH2 MCLURE (ANGUS1) was born 1809 in Brackley Point PEI, Canada, and died Abt. 1896 in PEI, Canada. He married MARY BELL, daughter of JAMES BELL and MARY WATSON.
Notes for HUGH MCLURE: Hugh was a farmer. The census for PEI, Canada for 1891 lists A Hugh McLure , Canadian Presbyterian. Age 82, Lot 24f-1. Hugh owned one hundred acres and fifty adjacent acres west of and bordering on the Brackley Point Road ,opposite Covehead Rd. It is believed that Hugh and Mary are buried in the Brackley Point plot, but, that they may have been to poor to have a headstone. One Emma J. Graham lived with them as a domestic. She was sixteen. Hugh was known as Hughie, and as Ewen. He left a will dated Sept 25, 1893. It was proved Jan. 21 1896. It reads:
To elder son Wallace McLure, seventy-five acres in the center of my farm (deed already given)
To my son Colin C. McLure, seventy-five acres on which he now resides ( deed already given)
To daughter Margaret Ann Perry, the remaining fifty acres of my farm, being in the north fifty and lying along the road from Brackley Point to Winsloe Road.

John fought in the U.S. Civil was for three years and nine months. Shane MacClures grandmother Stella Jane Rollings MacClure said that John had his finger shot off by an enemy sharpshooter while he was lighting his pipe at camp one night. His finger was cocked up while lighting his pipe. After the war, he received a yearly pension from the U.S. government of about $30 a year. this was a lot of money for the times. He was known as soldier John. John McLure and Caroline Woolner and two of their children , Catherine and Angus Russell are buried at Cavendish, PEI, Canada.
