This family I call "John McLeod and Margaret McLean of Raasay, Scotland and Little Sands, PEI. " - I first encountered this family living in Gladstone, Manitoba in the late nineteenth century and traced them back to Prince Edward Island. John and Margaret arrived in PEI in 1839 from Raasay, Scotland with their children, all of whom were born in Raasay. Some of these children married and raised children in Little Sands and vicinity. Around 1852-53 the extended family left Little Sands and eventually settled in Bruce County, Ontario near the town of Lucknow where some other children married and raised families. The family remained there for about 20 years and then most of John and Margaret's descendants moved west, initially settling in Gladstone, Manitoba with a surprising number of other ex-Islanders in the early 1870s. From there, descendants scattered further west. There is more than one family account of their departure from PEI and one of them mentions that their farm was burned out at Little Sands. Intriguing, as are most of the later documented adventures of this family. Although I had heard that some Scottish families had two living children with the same first name, Donald McLeod's two Alexanders (generation 2) is the first time I have actually encountered it.

		4.	vi.	Malcolm McLeod. He was born on 15 Oct 1824 in Raasay, Inverness-shire, Scotland. He married Annie Beaton. They were married on 23 Feb 1864 in Kinloss, Bruce, Ontario, Canada. He died on 03 Sep 1912 in Gladstone, Manitoba, Canada.
