The Descendants of Neil McKinnon and Hannah McDonald
1. Neil McKinnon came to P.E.I. as a small boy from Barra, Scotland around 1790. About 1827 Neil settled in the Brae, Lot 9 where he married Hannah McDonald. Hannah was the daughter of John McDonald (senior) and Marie McDonald also of the Brae. Neil and Hannah were pioneer farmers, Roman Catholics, and lifelong residents of the McKinnon Road just south of St Mary's Church, Brae. Hannah died between 1850 and 1855, Neil died about 1877. The descendants of Neil and Hannah and related families have made their homes in many parts of Canada and the United States.
Neil McKinnon and Hannah McDonald had the following children:

2. Nancy Ann McKinnon (Neil) was born about 1828 in the Brae, Lot 9. Nancy Ann married Donald McIntyre son of John McIntyre and Flora Campbell 14 February 1855.
Donald McIntyre and Nancy Ann McKinnon had the following adopted children:
i. John O'Neill
ii. Mary Ann O'Neill
iii. Etta McIntyre
3. James McKinnon (Neil) was born 4 December 1830 in the Brae, Lot 9. James did not marry. He died 28 April 1907 and is buried in the Brae Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
4. Mary McKinnon (Neil) was born 9 March 1833 in the Brae, Lot 9. No further information has been discovered regarding Mary McKinnon.
5. Felix McKinnon (Neil) was born 29 April 1836 and died 8 August 1908 in the Brae, Lot 9. Felix married Elizabeth McDonald daughter of Allan McDonald and Margaret Curtis 29 October 1863. Elizabeth died 1 October 1942.
Felix McKinnon and Elizabeth McDonald had the following children:

6. John McKinnon (Neil) is believed to be Neil and Hannah's youngest child but no birth date has yet been discovered. John's first wife was Mary Ann McIsaac.
John McKinnon and Mary Ann McIsaac had the following children:
i. Augustine born 20 February 1867 in the Brae, Lot 9
ii. Mary Hannah born 23 January 1868 in the Brae, Lot 9
On 14 January 1870 John McKinnon married Alice Walsh daughter of Robert Walsh and Margaret Fitzgerald.
John McKinnon and Alice Walsh had the following children:
iii. Elizabeth born 10 February 1870 in the Brae, Lot 9
iv. Francis born 30 August 1871 in the Brae, Lot 9
v. Margaret Jane born 10 July 1873 in the Brae, Lot 9
John and Alice McKinnon left the Brae about 1875 and further information on them is, as yet, undiscovered.

7. Joseph James McKinnon (Felix, Neil) was born 27 July 1864 in the Brae, Lot 9. On 28 April 1885 he married Sarah Ann McIsaac daughter of John McIsaac and Mary Ann McDonald.
Joseph James McKinnon and Sarah Ann McIsaac had the following children:
i. Felix Andrew born 12 November 1886 in the Brae, Lot 9
ii. Alice born 17 February 1889 in the Brae, Lot 9
iii. James born 4 November 1890 in the Brae, Lot 9
iv. Alfred Raymond born June 1894 in the Brae, Lot 9
v. Hilary Romuald born 23 February 1896 in the Brae, Lot 9
8. John Justin McKinnon (Felix, Neil) was born 25 May 1866 in the Brae, Lot 9 and died 1926 in Colorado, U.S.A. John married Mattie Webb and had one daughter who died as a child.
9. William Peter McKinnon (Felix, Neil) was born 13 February 1868 in the Brae, Lot 9. William married Felida Nott in Hawaii about 1895.
William Peter McKinnon (step-father) and Felida Nott had the following children:
i. Minnie born 8 August 1881 in California, U.S.A. died 19 February 1951
ii. Myrtle born 1882 in California, U.S.A.
10. Maximilian McKinnon (Felix, Neil) was born about 1870 in the Brae, Lot 9. Maximilian died as a child.
11. George Allan McKinnon (Felix, Neil) was born 7 May 1871 in the Brae, Lot 9 and died in Miami, Florida in 1949. George married Ellen Cecelia O'Donnell. Further information is private.
12. Daniel McKinnon (Felix, Neil) was born 3 June 1873 in the Brae, Lot 9. Daniel died 1 September 1961 and is buried in the Brae Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Daniel married Matilda White. Matilda died in Calgary, Alberta 13 May 1912. Further information is private.
13. Alphonso McKinnon (Felix, Neil) was born 1 July 1875 in the Brae, Lot 9 and died 7 June 1946 in Calgary, Alberta. Alphonso married Sarah (last name unknown). Further information is private.
14. Raymond McKinnon (Felix, Neil) was born 2 June 1877 in the Brae, Lot 9. Raymond married Mary Augusta Stuart (22 August 1879 - 1 November 1968) daughter of Charles Stewart and Ann MacKenzie. Raymond died in Brighton, Massachusetts November 1975. Further information is private.
15. Neil Alexander(Felix, Neil) was born 15 July 1879 in the Brae, Lot 9. Neil did not marry. He died 10 April 1947 and is buried in the Brae Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
16. Mary Emma(Felix, Neil) was born 21 January 1882 in the Brae, Lot 9. Mary married Hubert McAllar. She died 5 January 1979 and is buried in the Brae Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Further information is private.
17. Margarite Hannah(Felix, Neil) was born 19 June 1884 in the Brae, Lot 9. Hannah died 12 September 1896 and is buried in the Brae Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
18. Leo Gerald(Felix, Neil) was born 14 September 1886 in the Brae, Lot 9 and died there 10 April 1964. Leo is buried in the Brae Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Further information is private.
19. Elizabeth Ella(Felix, Neil) was born 28 October 1888 in the Brae, Lot 9 and died 31 January 1991. Lillie is buried in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Marlboro, MA. Further information is private.
