Charles Craswell for T. Hill P.E. Island to Mr. Broad, Merchant, Mirimachi, 7th July 1831.
Cascumpeque, Prince Edward Island 7 July 1831
Mr. Broad Sir:
Having been informed you are in the habit of purchasing grain of different descriptions I have consigned a small quantity to you with Prospere Gallant Master and owner of the shallop C(ora?) will deliver with him as Follows: 21 Barrels Containing 63 Bushels of wheat also 23 Bushels of Oats and 34 Bushels of Barley. The oats and barley is in bulk, you will have to dispose of the barrels if you have no use for them.
You will please to send me in return the following articles viz;
1 Quarter chest of tea -- 1 Bag of Tobacco--
10 Gallons Rum -- 20 lb Twelve Penny Nails
6 Yd ? thin fustian -- 6 yd unbleached cotton
1 Bottle Mustard -- 1 stove grate -- half dozen Led pencils
and the remainder in Molasses.
Should you be disposed to Continue to purchase Grain its probable our future Dealings will be a longer sale. I have a Quantity of Excellent Gasperaux if this will suite your Interest to purchase you could please to name the prices you can give per barrel and oblige Sir.
