The following short letter was transcribed for us by Mike Salmon, [email protected] from his collection of Prince Edward Island Covers. Henry was a bookseller located on Queen at the corner of Richmond St.'s in Charlottetown. By 1864, he had passed away, and his widow is listed in Hutchinson's Directory as "Stamper, Catherine, wid Henry, books and stationery, Queen cor Richmond"
Halifax 23rd Febry 1852
Dear Sir,We last week enclosed a dozen copy of No. 1 of The Provincial to your address and now send the same number of No. 2. May we request that you will use your influence in obtaining for it a circulation in Charlotte Town. The terms etc. will be found on the last page of the cover of the first No. You will oblige by informing us as early as possible in the ensuing month what measure of support may be expected from the Island.
