Notes for HENRY HARRINGTON:
In approximately 1840 Henry and Anastatia emigrated to Prince Edward Island. Previous to 1840 Henry spent some time working in Newfoundland as an employee for the fishing companies in Ireland. This type of work meant spending the summer season in Newfoundland fishing grounds then returning to Ireland in the fall.
When Henry and Anastatia first arrived on the Island they settled in Margate, then Paddy Land (Indian River). In approximately 1853 they leased one hundred acres of land in Spring Valley where he built a log house and cleared the land. This land was leased from the Stewarts, the proprietors of Lot 18.
Henry worked as a shoemaker and was a successful farmer. In 1843 he worked for the government on the Margate Road with his cart and team of oxen.

"Earl Raymond Jones was born on May 9, 1903 in Blackduck, Minnesota, United States, the oldest of eight children of Conrad and Eva Jones. The family moved to the Donalda district in 1913 from Ada, Minnesota and farmed in the Science Mound district. On February 17, 1932 he was united in marriage to Annie Beatrice Bernard and to this union seven children were born. They farmed in the Science Mound district until retiring and moving to Stettler in November 1973.
Prior to their marriage, Earl farmed . During the winter months he also worked in the local coal mines. He worked the first few winters in the Wilkinson Mines and later years with the Muncy Mines, near Forestburg. Earl spent his last winter in mining in 1936 - 37, moving back to the farm that spring and lived there until retiring to Stettler in 1973.
Earl was a leader in all community activities and was active in the Farmers Union, the Donalda Co-op and Science Mound Church. He was a repairman for Donalda Rural telephones for years. He was an active curler and enjoyed fishing.
Earl had a sawmill on his farm and helped build many homes in his community.
Earl and his brothers were very musical and played in the evening quite often. Earl could play
many instruments, including the mandolin, guitar, accordian, organ, banjo and violin.
Earl stood 5ft. 7 in. tall, had blonde curly hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, and a quiet spoken manner. He died on March 21, 1978 in his home in Stettler, Alberta."
