John Philip Gillis, born May 7, 1864 in Forest Hill, Prince Edward Island, Canada; died December 15, 1933 in Lowell, MA. He arrived in Boston on Oct. 16, 1884. He was the son of Daniel Gillis and Jessie McKinnon. He had two brothers David and Peter. He married Elizabeth A. Wiggin on July 15, 1896 in Lowell, MA. She was the daughter of David Wiggin and Susanah Johnston of England.

i. Jessie E. Gillis, born in Lowell, MA; married William Gibbons.

ii. Clarence Edgar Gillis, born April 5, 1897 in Lowell, MA, he married Ruby Muriel McElroy September 27, 1924 in Jordan Memorial, Ocean Park, ME.

iii. John Philip Gillis, Jr., born July 1898 in Lowell, MA; died March 30, 1981 in Lowell, MA; married Martha Jane Kearns.

iv. Grace A. Gillis, born 1901 in Lowell, MA 1928 at age 27; married George Williams.
