He married MARY SOPHIE PINEO October 30, 1855 in Pugwash, Nova Scotia, daughter of HENRY PINEO and HARRIET SEAMAN. She was born October 31, 1836 in Pugwash, Nova Scotia, and died August 15, 1908 in Shelby, New York, buried in Palmerston, Pugwash, Nova Scotia.
Edwin Clay was a medical doctor and a Baptist Minister. He is famous for his dealings with the Amherst mystery, Canada's most famous poltergeist case. He lectured on the topic. He was the only Clay to leave PEI.
His wife was given Pineo lodge by her father who built it for her. This later became Thinker's Lodge when Cyrus Eaton took it over, where great minds, like Albert Einstein, would gather and discuss World Peace.

Notes for CARLISLE "MIKE" ETHELBERT CLAY: Mike adopted his sister's grandson, Tony, when Glenn knew he was dying. He didn't want his son raised by her, so came to Canada to give him to Mike. It caused a huge rift which was never healed between Mike and Myrtle. Tony was raised as a Clay, but changed back to Rowley when Mytle made the conditions of inheritance impossible to accept without changing back. Tony's son was left as Clay.
Mike left school at 15 or 16. he went back at 21 and becaame a teacher and principal, then school inspector until 1965. He had wanted to be a doctor.

Notes for ISABELLE MYRTLE CLAY: Myrtle was given an OBE for her war effort. She raised a pig which was added to a lieutenant's pigs. It was not slaughtered by him, nor by her, but had an unfortunate accident with a truck in the farmyard.
Notes for ESME ROWLEY: Esme died of "neglect"-heart trouble, which should not have killed him.

Notes for CARLETON ST. CLAIR CLAY: Born in Halifax, moved across Canada, arriving in Vancouver in 1915. Went to Normal School and became a teacher. Taught in Summerland in the 20's. In Vancouver for the Depression. Became a hypnotist and had a studio at Granville and Georgia, above the drug store, where he taught elocution and treated clients by hypnosis.
Put on radio plays and worked for CJOR as the "Word Man". Joined the army during the war, working in Entertainments and demobbed in England, where he stayed to be with Wendy. She had been evacuated to Canada because of the German occupation of the Channel Islands and they had met at his studio where he taught her elocution and had put her in some of the radio plays..
