William and Martha Clarke brought their family of seven children to Prince Edward Island around 1830. One son, Henry, was not listed as being with them. William was reportedly a minister, his being referred to as �The Reverend William Clarke� in a few papers. Speculation among people who know about such things in England at the time is that he was a non-conformist minister - not of the Church of England. The Clarkes settled in the New Glasgow area. Not much is known about William and Martha Clarke. A search of the area in 2006 did not turn up their graves, although many of their descendants were found. Research is ongoing in England to bring the line back as far as possible. Since this family was first listed on the Island Register in 2003, two and possibly three generations have been added, going back to the early 1700s. Since this is dealing with Prince Edward Island genealogy, I�ll only include one generation in England, beginning with Rev. William�s parents and siblings.
