Footnotes:
(a) Some of this information was made available with the generous assistance of
Mr. Dan MacDonald ([email protected]).
(b) Certain family members spelled their surname "Elexander". This may
have been the "old world" spelling and this practice has fallen into disuse. Discoveries
in late 2008 through the use of DNA Genealogy suggest the correct spelling is
indeed "Alexander" and that the family line can be genetically traced
to Northern Ireland. DNA evidence is also emerging that Kintyre, Scotland, the
ancestral home of Clan Alexander, may indeed be the ultimate place of origin of
this branch of the clan.
