Orwell Cheese Factory

The following is a report of the Orwell cheese factory from May 21st (opening day) up to June 30, ult., 1900, as shown by the different routes, as follows:
Route No. 1 - Orwell Cove and Lower Newtown, 13 patrons, Finlay Smith, drawer, 54,237 lbs. at 41/2 cents - $23.05.
Route No,. 2 - Brush Wharf and Orwell, 15 patrons, Allan B. McDonald, drawer, 51,803 lbs. at 4 cents, - $20.72.
Route No. 3 - Kinross and Orwell, 16 patrons, John W. McLeod, drawer, 37,569 lbs., at 4 2 cents - $15.96.
Route No. 4 - Upper and Lower Newtown, 12 patrons, John Power, drawer, 27,417 lbs. at 4 7/8 cents - $13.36.
Route No. 5 - Glaishvin, 16 patrons, Alex. McMillan, drawer, 38,434 lbs., at 7 cents - $26.90.
Route No. 6 - Montague Cross (East), 14 patrons, John Connolly, drawer, 41,659 lbs. at 5 cents - $20.82.
Route No. 7 - Murray Harbor Road, 17 patrons, John A. McPhee, drawer, 31,749 lbs. at 7 cents -$22.21.
Route No. 8 - Montague Cross (West), 16 patrons, John Daly, drawer, 32,626 lbs. at 7 cents - $22.90.
Route No. 9 - Montague Cross (Valley) 10 patrons, Joseph Dougherty, drawer, 25, 366 lbs. at 6 cents, $15.21.
Route No. 10 - Point Prim, 15 patrons, Finlay Smith, drawer, 59,320 lbs. at 11 cents - $65.25
Route No. 11 - Grand View, 10 patrons, Kenneth McLean, drawer, 26,195 lbs. at 5 3/8 cents - $14.07.
Route No. 12 - Dundee, 9 patrons, Roderick E. McLeod, drawer, 6,798 lbs. At 7 7/8 cents - $5.35. This route is only in its infancy; it was added to the factory at the last annual meeting.
Amount of cheese manufactured - 39,200 lbs.
Number of boxes - 560.
Number of patrons - 162.
433,373 lbs. of milk drawn.
[There are about ten milk shippers in that area in 2004; and they would produce the total amount of milk received in Orwell in the year 1900 in ten or twelve days.]
