1859 Central Academy Examination Results
From The Islander, January 7, 1859.
The semi-annual examination of the pupils attending the Central Academy took place on Tuesday, the 21st of December, 1858, His Excellency, the Lieut. Governor, His Lordship chief Justice Hodgson, the Honorables George Coles, James Warburton, Col. Swabey and John Aldous, and a large number of ladies and gentlemen were present on the occasion. As an examination of all the classes would have taken up too much time, those only were examined which were selected by the visitors as the most interesting. The manner in which the various English, Latin, French and Mathematical classes acquitted themselves, bore honorable testimony as well to the talent and application of the students as to the efficiency of the Academy under the its present Professors.
