Muster Rolls, Royal Nova Scotia Volunteers - 1784


Muster Rolls of the following Disbanded Officers, Discharged and Soldiers and their respective families being a party of the late Royal Nova Scotia Volunteer Regiment that are settled in the Island of St. John, taken by order of Major General Campbell this 12th June 1784.

N.B. The original party was 33. Three of them returned to Halifax from Chedebucto, and 2 were lost in the Ice last April.

*Note: Quartermaster, John Hardy, formerly with Captain Hierlihy's Connecticut Regiment and now with the Royal Nova Scotia Volunteers, drowned, April, 1783 at Chedebucto Bay, on their way to Halifax N.S. Apparently their ship became icebound and in attempts to free same, Hardy and one other, both referred to in the line above lost their lives. This information from J. David Clark.
